The Feast of Trumpets: No Man Knows the Day or Hour
The Prophetic Alarm, the Seventh Trumpet, and the Return of the King
By Tami Seibold ·
Scripture
Leviticus 23:23-25; 1 Thessalonians 4:16
Why the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah) is the prophetic dress rehearsal for Messiah’s return, the regathering of scattered Israel, and the resurrection of the saints.
The Holy Days given in Leviticus 23 are not antiquated shadows—they are the divine blueprint of Messiah’s redemption. While the spring feasts were fulfilled to the day at His first coming, the fall feasts stand as the dress rehearsal for the return of the King.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
The Holydays that God gave in Leviticus 23 are a shadow of Christ. They are an outline of things to come and a prophetic representation of our King. We know with scriptural certainty that the Feasts occurring at the beginning of the Biblical year were made complete in Jesus' first coming:
Spring Feasts (First Coming)
- Passover: The death of Jesus, our Passover Lamb.
- Unleavened Bread: The sinless burial of Jesus.
- Firstfruits: The resurrection of Jesus from the grave.
- Pentecost (Weeks): The outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Fall Feasts (Second Coming)
- Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah): The awakening shout, the gathering of the elect, and the Day of the Lord.
- Day of Atonement: Final national reconciliation and judgment.
- Tabernacles: God dwelling with mankind in the Kingdom.
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
תְּרוּעָה — Teruah (ter-oo-aw')
Strong's Definition: Clamor, acclamation of joy or a battle-cry; especially clangor of trumpets, an alarum, shouting, loud noise, rejoicing.
The word Teruah carries a dual prophetic reality: to the covenant people of God, it represents overwhelming joy and deliverance; to the rebellious nations of Babylon, it is the declaration of war and divine judgment.
God declared the first day of the seventh month as a Sabbath and a memorial of blowing trumpets. This Holy Day sets up the entirety of the fall season, and it is the only feast that begins on a New Moon. Because the crescent moon must be sighted visually after disappearing at the end of the monthly cycle, no man knows the exact day or hour until the sighting is confirmed.
